Reading Notes [Epified Mahabharata Part A and B]

Shantanu and Ganga Source:Wikipedia

Rewatching the beginning of Mahabharata reminded me of how much of a womanizer Shantanu was. Also, it kind of reminded me how often any issues in Epics are derived for men making promises they don't want to keep to women. I feel a bit of contradictions in these stories since the King obviously has the power to forcefully take the fisherman's daughter if he wants, but he doesn't. This righteousness ends up causing his son to make an oath that binds him just as Shantanu's oath to Ganga bound Shantanu. Sometimes, all of these oaths and decisions based off of their righteous character seems to make their way of life way too complex.
